I came across a fabulous programme on Radio 3 last night that brought together prose, poetry and music. I felt I had to share.

Words and Music: Mark the Music explored literature about music. It opened with a Robert Herrick poem (read by Peter Capaldi and Emily Bruni), taking in Walt Whitman, Pablo Neruda, Anne Sexton and Jack Kerouac and others on its lyrical odyssey. All this was set against a backdrop of varied types of music, from Janacek to Neil Young, masterfully woven together with the spoken word.

Incredibly interesting and inspirational – I must listen again!
