The world of football is a great place to hear some interesting use of our language.

Welsh footballer Robbie Savage has been awarded the Plain English Campaign’s Best National Radio Programme Award for the 606 phone-in. He is refreshingly straight-talking, and funny too: “It’s a good job it’s for plain English. If it was for plain Welsh, I would have been struggling.”

And Jamie Redknapp was given the Foot in Mouth award for the brilliant nonsense he’s come up with during match commentary.
